Everywhere I go, I face the same questions…

Neha, how do I lose weight? Could you suggest me a diet, please? How is your body so well-toned? You have a flat tummy, and it’s not even been too long since you had the baby. How?

I put in the effort, so it does feel nice to hear words of appreciation. I wish the answers to people’s questions were this simple though…

After having my daughter, I gained almost 17 kgs. I absolutely enjoyed my pregnancy. It was stress-free and I had a ball of a time. I had no worries about losing weight that I had gained because I had done it before, so how hard could it be?

Let me tell you… post pregnancy, getting back into shape is a herculean task. Motherhood takes up most of the time, you have to deal with mood swings, hormonal changes and the last thing you feel like doing is to walk into a gym and get a sweat on. I also developed post-pregnancy hypo-thyroid issues which made it even harder to get back into shape. Hard, not impossible.

I tried all the fad diets, juice cleanses, and detox diets as an easy way to shed the kilos. But instead of helping me, it did nothing but damage my body further. What I had to come to terms with was the fact that it is impossible to drop a few sizes in a couple of weeks without stressing out your body. It is extremely important to make a thorough lifestyle change without which you will never be able to achieve levels of fitness that you desire. This, my friends, is only possible with a healthy diet and regular exercise over a period of time.

My fitness journey has been a rollercoaster ride. With each twist & turn, I learn more about what my body is capable of.

I tried everything – yoga, home fitness videos, CrossFit, HIIT training, endless cardio. But what actually worked for me was a healthy combination of weight training and cardio along with healthy eating. I had started to enjoy the transformation journey I had embarked upon.

I realized that making this my lifestyle gave me peace and happiness. Today I exercise solely because I feel HAPPY. The way I think has changed for the better, and I have never felt this good before. Sometimes it does get tough, but all you have to do is push yourself a little bit more and the results are spectacular!

Today, I am fitter, stronger, and healthier. Still wondering how I managed to pull this off? Well, my whole blog is dedicated exactly to that.:)
