Mostly associated with meats and eggs, protein is one of the macronutrients, which along with carbohydrates and fat, is required by our bodies for proper functioning. However, when required, it’s not like the body can dip into its coterie of reserved protein, because unlike the other two, protein can’t be stored. One has to eat sufficient amount of nutritious and healthy food in order to fulfil the daily dietary requirement of protein. The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for protein is 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight. So, how do vegetarians ensure that they meet this daily requirement in their diet?
